September 25 - Shelved
There's a curious thing in some forms of storytelling where the apex is the end. Where you struggle to make it, and then the act of making it is the end. This is a song about a goth band who know that signing to a major label is when what they're doing is going to stop working.
It makes me think of a story I wrote about 15 years ago called Say Not A Prayer For Me about someone who was - in person - the most beautiful person anyone present had ever seen. They could make people fall in love with them in a moment. The reasons for this were traumatic, as were the uses this had been put to, but the story found them when it was all over, and when they knew the extent and limit of this effect. Namely that what they had in person didn't transfer. The love people felt face to face did not translate to photographs or video or audio, so they would sign huge modelling contracts and take as much as they could upfront, squirrelling it away for the moment in six months time where the contract was tearfully cancelled because on paper they were just another person.
You have to know when to get off, you have to know how.
And today's weird youtube treat: a chaotic mexican po song by Malcriada, which appears to be being performed by two of The Joker
