September 15 - Blood Capsules

This song arrives from a weird dimension of being both very funky and sounding like it's being played on the weirdest version of the Weather Channel ever made. And after I'd only seen the title but not listened to the song, I was still in a Beat The Champ phase, because of the various "everyone knows" stories about wrestlers faking blood using special effects, when in reality it's much simpler and cheaper to use a small bit or a razor blade and create a circumstance where some of your inside blood becomes your outside blood. Anyway.

This is refreshing and odd and ultimately a sing about desperation. It put me in mind of Pain And Gain, a not very good movie about bodybuilders doing a bank robbery that managed to show Zac Snyder's soul, may the lard have mercy on it. it has an Elmore Leonard sense of heightened tragedy becoming absurdity with additional steps, and that's not bad company to be in.
