January 3 - Wild Palm City / Within You, Without You

So this is an interesting one. It comes from a compilation called "Back to the Egg, Asshole" which appears to be a multi artist mixtape where all the songs have the same names as Beatles songs, described as "An unplugged anti-tribute to Paul McCartney" that features no Paul McCartney songs. I'd love to hear the rest of the tape but apparently it doesn't exist.

So, the song itself: outwardly rough very early Mountain Goats. Playing with ideas, exploring thoughts, lyrical refrains that are revisiting concepts in very loose ways. It's the sound of someone working through things, and that's always fascinating to see, but for that reason it feels like a song that is interesting more than it is compelling to listen to.
