January 19 - Thanks For The Dress

Cheeky start there, John, burst of radio channels ending with "please keep feeding us". Very sound collage.

Hot Garden Stomp continues to feel like one of the earlier places where John was saying "all right, so this is what I sound like, but what if I didn't?", The guitar is more confident and assured than in earlier tapes, and having reached this level of confidence the playing and lyrics feel able to fuck around a little more.

The lyrics balance clarity and obfuscation in the accomplished way that John's later work does, and continue his journey down the rabbit hole of classical tragedy, focusing on Medea and the death of Glauce, and of the children of Medea at her own hand. Strange and unsettling lyrics set in odd and experimental guitar, but these are strange and unsettling times.
