September 11 - Luna
If you were to do a song about every wrestler whose life had ended in tragedy, you'd probably need more than a year's worth of songs. Even when lives don't end early, they often end badly, it is a pretty hard business that used to be an incredibly hard business, and the 80s and 90s in particular were a meat grinder for people who were given fame by the business and pain by the job, which is a tough combination wherever you are.
Luna Vachon was a big deal who should have been a huge deal. The child of Paul Vachon and the niece of Mad Dog, she had a pedigree in the business and an exceptional attitude. She and Ronda Sing were the closest that American wrestling of the 80s produced to the Japanese joshi monsters like Dump Matsumoto and Aja Kong, but she was only ever used as a freakshow, not a talent. And when the industry had taken what it needed from her, she was cast aside, and the machine ate up another person.
It's a hard business. But it doesn't fucking have to be.
