May 2 - Old College Try

All right folks, it's taken us four months but we've reached Tallahassee. And we're starting off with one of the most genuinely wonderful songs on this album. An ode to exhausted but still kicking love. Toxic, poisoned, bleeding, but still real and powerful.

And my god, is the instrumentation of this utterly beautiful. The keyboard and the organs and the duochrome of the album cover. There's something sacred about this sound.

It's weird because so many other versions of this theme highlight the pain of doomed love, but this song has something sweet and tired in its core. This hurts less than the rest of the world. And sometimes, when you are sitting just right and not thinking about it too much, it doesn't hurt at all.
