March 27 - Genesis 19:1-2
Hitting the rough edges of (deeply religious) punk here, as John looks at the parts of the bible most likely to get him in trouble with certain other people of faith.
It's a funny thing, wickedness. Or the assumption of wickedness. Collective punishment is justified by the idea that everyone deserves it. And once you start thinking that it's not about what people did but what they are.
I can't write much today. I just found out that an old friend who was in my rpg group but dropped out of it for health issues died a month ago and there hadn't been a way for people to let us know. We're so marginally connected to each other and sometimes the question isn't so much "who would notice if you went?" as "who would think to tell you if this person went?"
We touch the lives of others lightly, so make those touches count. She was a wonderful soul, an academic who studied apples and loved Japan and I'm going to miss her in a way that's particularly sharp because I didn't know her better than I did.
Make the most of the people you are connected to. We are the love we show.
