March 24 - Dutch Orchestra Blues

Not a blues, let's start there. Which is pedantic and silly about a song that's joyful and silly. And also sad.

This is a sing about faith in the hidden things. About yearning for the reassurance that better things are happening somewhere, just a little too quiet for you to hear but there nonetheless.

I find songs of faith fascinating not because I have no faith or because there aren't things that I need to be true but because my own... whatever it is... operates on different terms. I fear uncertainty, but what I fear more is the idea that I could be certain and wrong. I just want to know. But then again, I just want to know.

So maybe the orchestra's playing. But I'd rather the sad uncertainty of the quiet than the feeling that I should know what it sounds like.
