March 22 - Golden Boy

What a delightful whimsical little song. Edges of Big Rock Candy Mountain, with the sort of sincerity of someone who with their entire heart and soul believe they are being a lil goof.

Done with anything less than sincerity, done with horror of horrors irony this would be insufferable. it would have a sneer on its lips as it told you to be good and get to heaven because you can't buy Golden Boy Peanuts in hell. But this is sincere, and I'm sure the peanuts taste like goddamn heaven.

Golden Boy apparently make a couple of different types of peanuts: the bagged ones that John remembers and a canned braised version, like boiled peanuts only from Singapore. My personal favourite weird snack from the Asian food store is a Filipino cheese flavoured puffed corn snack called Chickboy, which appropriately has an androgyne mascot, presumably the legendary Chick Boy

No idea if they sell these in hell
