Mountain Goats do folk horror. The discordant guitars are a particular delight here with the imaginative language of a strange inhabitant of a strange albion. This is a beautiful and strange land of odd landscapes and odd feelings, and at their heart the human moment of seeing the person you love behind the love you have for them.

Speaking of Britain and strange landscapes. I'm not in England right now. I'm on holiday in Cyprus. This is a profoundly weird time to be on holiday in Cyprus. I'm in a hotel full of old people who came here looking for the sun and found themselves in the closest point in the EU to one of the stupidest wars fought in some time. I have too many serious thoughts to share them, so I'm left with the unserious and the silly. How profoundly British.
