August 7th - Deuteronomy 2 10

The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

All I could think of the first time I heard this song was the Thylacine Wolf. And how unlikely it was that such a creature survived just long enough for us to get weird video of it, and then - entirely because of us - died out.

This is a lament for endings. Specifically endings we caused. There was diversity and strangeness and beauty in this world that went away because we were careless or because we wanted a world we controlled more. And that is quite simply hard to properly comprehend and deal with.
